DOUBLE HUNG WINDOWS
DOUBLE HUNG WINDOWS
In the old days, horses used to walk down our roads, gladiators used to fight in the Colosseum in Rome, people died of the plague in their millions, people used to sew their own clothes and… windows used to always have a rope and pulley system. Though this many not seem as revolutionary as the other phenomena, it has been in our industry. Let us explain: windows used to have a rope a pulley and a weight in a frame that would allow you to open the sash without the whole thing collapsing in on you. It was a pretty clever system, one that must have seemed ingenious at the time and one that worked very well for a long time. But now, with the advent of double hung windows, that all seems like ancient history.
What Has Changed?
Now double hung technology has come along and changed all of that. The name comes from the fact that double hung systems have two windows that open independently from each other. They are both suspended at either side of the frame and they can both operate on their own terms. Sounds good, right? Well, there are many benefits to having double hung windows. For example: they can accept air conditioners and screens, they have a much better control over the type of air coming into the house that you want, whether it is a steady stream or a big gust when you need it in the kitchen. They are also very versatile, which means that they can be fitted into almost any home quite easily and there is never usually a problem when it comes to installation. Once in your home, they are easy to clean because they can be tilted in and out and they are very energy efficient, minimizing leaks and heat escape.
What Is The Difference Between Double Hung and Single Hung?
So – double hung windows have tow sashes that allow for ventilation on the top, the bottom or, indeed, both. They move up and down in unison or at opposite to each other without the system failing. However, single hung windows only have one sash which means that they are less versatile and more restrictive. The ventilation options are way more with the double hung option. Whilst both are excellent choices for your home or building, you should consider the benefits that double hung offers. They are great for homes, offices and for any other building where ventilation is key!
